Sam Shear-Final Project

It's about 4 ft. long.
Has a sliding mechanism on the bottom.
Half of the object is a cylinder.

Its old and has some rust on it
Smaller objects fit inside that are transferred in and out of the object using the sliding mechanism.
It has the ability to make load noises.

Not really sure what to make from this but there are a few characteristics that i can run with.

Stephanie's Sculpture Final Project

My phone conversation was difficult to hear, but I made out a few characteristics of my piece.
Sea foam green glass
Gold base trim
Dragonfly (also of gold) atop the entire thing
The speaker's voice was echoed and muffled

The speaker unfortunately revealed that said object was an antique perfume bottle. Nevertheless, I will use the few descriptions to mimic something of this character.

Some inspirations:

Sound, and resonant singing, are for some strange reason a contributing component of my thoughts on this description. Perhaps its because I recently watched Amadeus.

Sam Shear

This project was an interesting one. I decided to use the shadows casted from the students to create these abstract forms. Using charcoal and water I wanted to get that same look and feel as black tar or oil, while saving the wall from damage. then using red paint i would loosely outline the head of each person.. all in all i think the project was a success, with a few happy accidents.. i learned that i don't necessarily need to think out every step and that i should just let the work happen.

Through the process of creating the class as medium art project, I learned many things. I learned that people can be manipulated easily if they are given accurate, clear, and thorough directions. If I did not map out clear directions for each of the 5 volunteers, they may not have been in the desired places and poses. I am happy with the turnout and process of the piece. I would have liked more people to be in the library in order to have the class feel more out of place and awkward.
