Recycled Artists

The artist Gabriel Dishaw creates sculptures out of recycles materials and calls his projects "upcycled."

These shoe sculptures are made from recycles electronics. 

Another interesting artist is Pat McGowan who created a piece of art out of traffic cones.

A great resource for finding artists working with trash found materials is the San Francisco Dump (Recology) Artist in Residency Program. Here is a list of all the artists with links to their work: http://www.sunsetscavenger.com/AIR/artists.htm

One of my favorite artists, Lauren DiCioccio, did a residency there and created embroidered copies of what she found. She takes everyday found objects and brings them into attention by making them out of fabric and thread. I think her work is interesting and exciting.

Another artist I have found working with found objects/trash, is Jean Shin. Jean Shin also works with taking the everyday object and brings it into a new light.
